The Lady Bisons went to the wire in their first Atlantic Sun match of the season, but lost 3-2 at Mercer University in Macon, Ga.
After winning the first game of the match 30-17, they lost the second game 30-25. The Lady Bisons were back in control in game three, winning 30-15. Mercer tied the match 2-2 with a 30-27 win in game four. Mercer held on for a 16-14 win in game five.
Junior outside hitter Sarah Snider posted a match-high and tied her season high with 32 kills for the Lady Bisons. She also had 32 kills in a four-game match with Tennessee Tech. This is the eighth time this season that Snider has posted a match-high in kills. Senior libero Ann Mullins made a match-high 23 digs.
Snider also finished with double figures in digs with 16, sixth time this season she has posted double figures in both kills and digs. Freshman setter Stefine "Jake" Pease made 14 digs. Also chipping in defensively with 14 digs was junior defensive specialist Jessica Turner.
Senior outside hitter Ashley Cox finished in double figures with 17 digs. Turner was credited with a match-high four service aces.
Three Mercer players made 11 kills. Two made 13 digs
The Lady Bisons are 5-8 overall, 0-1 in the A-Sun. Mercer is 3-11 overall, 1-0 in the conference.
The Lady Bisons return home this week for a visit from Tennessee State of the Ohio Valley Conference at Allen Arena Tuesday night at 7. They return to conference play Friday at 5 when ETSU visits Allen Arena.
