It was an emotional roller coaster for Lipscomb and Campbell in Friday's doubleheader nightcap at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium. Lipscomb freshman Tennyson Dodd helped the Bisons jump out to a 10-3 lead by hitting two homeruns and driving in seven runs. Campbell scored eight unanswered to take the lead but the Bisons scored two in the bottom of the 9th for a 12-11 victory.

Northern State University officials announced on Friday that doctors at Avera McKennen Hospital in Sioux Falls successfully amputated former Lipscomb coach Don Meyer's left leg below the knee. The family is grateful that the doctors moved in this direction. Coach has been in a tremendous amount of pain due to his injury. He has a great attitude and was feeling a great sense of relief after making the decision with his family on Thursday.

Former Lipscomb basketball coach Don Meyer remains in a step down room according to information from Northern State University Wednesday. Meyer was seriously injured in a car wreck on September 5. Wayne Dedrick has decided to pursue a professional baseball career. Lipscomb sophomore forward Miguel DaSilva was named to the Atlantic Sun Preseason All-Conference Team, the conference announced Wednesday. DaSilva set school records for goals (10) and points (20) in a season last year as a redshirt freshman earning a spot on the All-Freshman team. The Bisons face Christian Brothers at home in an exhibition on August 22 at 6:00 p.m.

Lexi Myers has been named as an assistant coach for softball for Lipscomb University. Myers, a native of Hanover, Pa., has spent the past two seasons with the Lady Bisons as a graduate assistant. She received her Master's degree from Lipscomb in Education Administration in May 2008.

Lipscomb senior goal keeper Katie Shelton claimed another honor Tuesday, when she was named to the 2008 Atlantic Sun Preseason All-Conference Team. Last season Shelton was the 2007 Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year and was ranked 5th in the nation for total saves. The Lady Bisons open their season on August 29 against IUPUI at home.

The Lady Bisons volleyball team took its first official steps towards returning to the NCAA Tournament with practices Saturday and Sunday and three-a-day session Monday. The Lady Bisons open their season on the road August 29 against Indiana State in Morehead, Ky.

Former Lipscomb catcher Caleb Joseph has been named to the New York-Penn League All-Star game. Joseph is batting .290 with 5 home runs for the Aberdeen Ironbirds, Class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. He was drafted in the 7th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft in June.

The Cap Haitian orphanage soccer team looks a lot like the Lipscomb Bisons this summer. Dr. Lynn Griffith, long-time professor and director of tennis for Lipscomb, has been involved for many years in missionary work in Haiti. This year he asked Bisons soccer coach Charles Morrow if he had any old uniforms he no longer needed. Morrow responded by sending a home and away package of uniforms.

Lipscomb golf coach Buddy Harston completed the second round of the Senior Open Championship Friday at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland. He fired an 80. Combined with the first round score of shot a 79 he has a two-round total of 159.

Lipscomb golf coach Buddy Harston completed the first round of the Senior Open Championship Thursday at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland. Harston, who teed off at 7:40 a.m. Scotland time, 1:40 a.m. local time, shot a 79 and was tied for 120th with several golfers still on the course.

Alaina Jacobson looked at Mizzou as her “dream” school. She is finding, however, her dreams are coming true in Nashville, Tenn. instead. Jacobson, a former all-state standout softball pitcher from Crocker High School, spent a long freshman season at the University of Missouri-Columbia before transferring to Lipscomb University for this past school year.

The Lipscomb University men's soccer team has been nominated for the 2008 NCAA Sportsmanship Award by the Atlantic Sun Conference at the request of Bradley University, a private college located in Peoria, Ill. On August 12, 2007, tragedy struck the Bradley community with the death of men's soccer player Danny Dahlquist, who died in a fire at his residence.

Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson jumped at the opportunity to play Indiana, not only seeking a signature game, but also to increase Lipscomb's presence in the prospect-heavy state. The Bisons are heading to Bloomington, Ind., to face off against the Hoosiers on Sunday, December 28th. Lipscomb travels to NC State on Dec. 20. Cross-town rival Belmont visits Allen Arena on Feb. 12.

Wayne Dedrick could not have had a better high school senior year. He signed a basketball scholarship from Lipscomb and lead Hillcrest High School to the state basketball title. Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson was justifiably elated when Dedrick arrived in Nashville, enrolled in summer school and began working out, preparing for his career as a Bison. But that all changed when Dedrick was unexpectedly selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the MLB draft.

Garner, assistant athletic director for academics and senior women's administrator, fills the vacancy left by Steve Potts, who resigned from Lipscomb earlier this month to accept the position of senior associate director of athletics at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.
