Senior Carolyn Latham has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA All-Academic District IV First Team. She was a second team selection last year. Latham, an Exercise Science major, has a 3.98 grade point average.

The USTFCCCA announced the top GPAs in the nation for 2008 Men's and Women's NCAA Division I Cross Country. Lipscomb continued a tradition of academic excellence with honors for both teams.

Lipscomb coach Bill Taylor set the team goals high for the Atlantic Sun Conference Cross Country Championships and his Lady Bisons met the challenge. Saturday morning in Macon, Ga., the Lady Bisons finished fourth in the championships, their highest finish ever. Carolyn Latham led the Lady Bisons with a time of 18:22, earning A-Sun First Team All-Conference honors.

The Lipscomb women's cross country team finished fifth at the University of Evansville Invitational in Evansville, Ind. on Saturday morning. Junior Carolyn Latham finished 17th in a field of 188 in her first race of the year. Her time of 18:28.74 paced the Lady Bisons.

Lipscomb's men's cross country team remained in sixth place in the lates Atlantic Sun Cross Country poll released by the conference Thursday. The Lady Bisons and USC Upstate swapped places for fifth and sixth.

The Lipscomb cross country teams participated in the Vanderbilt Invitational at Percy Warner Park Saturday. The Bisons finished third out of eight teams in the 8K with a team time of 2:16:20.99 and a score of 100. Junior Ryan Chastain won the men's race with a time of 26:23.65. The Lady Bisons finished fifth out of eight teams in the 5K with a team time of 1:34:44.95 and a score of 103.

The Lipscomb Bisons finished fourth and the Lady Bisons were eighth in the Belmont-Vanderbilt Cross Country Opener on a rainy Friday night at Percy Warner Park. Ryan Chastain finished fourth for the Bisons in a field of 88 runners covering the 5-kilometer course in a time of 15:28.69. The top finisher for the Lady Bisons was Ashley Lehman. She ran the 4-kilometer course in a time of 15:28.91 finishing 25th in a field of 103 runners.

The Lipscomb Bisons and Lady Bisons Cross Country teams are running in Nashville the next two meets. The first meet, the Belmont Opener, will take place this Friday at Vaughn's Gap in Percy Warner Park (corner of Old Hickory and State Hwy 100). The women race 4,000m at 5:30 p.m. The the men are scheduled for a 5,000m race at 6 p.m. Competition will include the University of Alabama, Belmont, Bethel, MTSU, University of Tennessee, Tennessee-Martin and UAB.

The Bisons and Lady Bisons both finished third in the Mid-America Opener hosted by Evansville University in Evansville, Ind., Saturday morning. Ryan Chastain finished 10th in the 6-K race with a time of 19:13.70. He was one of seven Bisons runners to finish in the top 25 in the field of 79 runners. Carolyn Latham was the top finisher for the Lady Bisons crossing the finish line in the 4-K with a time 15:29.87, 11th.

The Lipscomb Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will open the 2008 season Saturday at the Mid-America Opener, hosted by the University of Evansville. The women will race 4000 meters at 10 a.m. The men will follow with a 6000 meters race.

The Lipscomb Bison and Lady Bison cross country teams were picked fifth in their respective Atlantic Sun preseason polls, the conference office announced Wednesday. This is the highest preseason rating in the NCAA era for the Bisons. The fifth place finish ties for the preseason high for the Lady Bisons who were also picked fifth in 2006.
