Lipscomb's baseball team will get a chance to make another splash next season when the Bisons play national champion Fresno State.
Last year Lipscomb beat Georgia 10-7 in the first game of the NCAA Tournament.
Georgia went on to finish runner-up in the College World Series to Fresno State.
Coach Jeff Forehand confirmed Friday that he has scheduled a four-game series at Fresno State for the 2009 season. Lipscomb will play the Bulldogs on March 27, a double-header on March 28 and another game on March 29.
Forehand said his philosophy is to play stiff competition in the regular season, hoping it will prepare his team for the postseason.
He said that playing Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Alabama in the regular season last year was key to helping beat Georgia in the NCAA Tournament.
"We're just trying to do the same thing we did last year,'' Forehand said. "When we have a chance to play somebody outside of our conference, we want to play good teams and hopefully get ourselves prepared for playing good teams in our league and in the tournament."
Lipscomb will open the season with another challenge, traveling to Georgia Tech for a three-game series beginning Feb. 20. The Bisons lost to Georgia Tech 6-3 in the second game of the NCAA Tournament. The Bisons also will play Vanderbilt twice, Tennessee and Auburn.
