Saturday, January 17, 2009The Lipscomb Lady Bisons scored the first two points of the game, but they never led again in a 70-51 Atlantic Sun loss at ETSU Saturday afternoon at Memorial Center in Johnson City.
Freshman guard Anna Bowers opened with a lay-up, but ESTU went on a 12-2 scoring run and never looked back.
The Lady Bisons battled to keep the game close in the first half. They trailed by only six at the half, 37-31.
It was the second A-Sun road loss for the Lady Bisons after winning their previous two games.
Freshman center Clair Waggener scored a season-and-career high 10 points. Freshman forward Chelsea Burroughs added 10 points as well. Burroughs has come off of the bench to score in double figures in three of her last four games and four of the last six.
Sophomore forward Cree Nix led the Lady Bisons with nine rebounds.
For the third time this season the Lady Bisons were perfect from the free throw line hitting 12-of-12 attempts.
The Lady Bisons held the advantage on the boards 47-44.
Four of ETSU’s starters scored in double figures. Guard Siarre Evans led the way with 17 points. Forward TaRonda Wiles added 13. Guard Tara Davis and forward Gwen Washington scored 11 apiece.
The Lady Bisons slipped to 4-13, 2-6 in the A-Sun. ETSU is 9-7, 7-1 in the conference.
