Latham named to District IV CoSIDA All-Academic First Team

Lipscomb University senior Carolyn Latham has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA District IV All-Academic First Team for Track and Cross Country.

Latham, from San Rafael, Calif., an Exercise Science major, has a 3.98 grade point average. She earned Second Team District IV All-Academic honors last season.

District IV includes universities in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio and Michigan. College sports information directors from around the country nominate and vote on the teams.

In cross country Latham earned Atlantic Sun All-Conference honors with a sixth place finish in the Conference Championships. She ran the course in 18:22, a personal record, despite missing most of the season. In 2007 she was also All-Conference in cross country with a seventh place finish in the Conference Championships.

She has been a team captain for both cross country and track for the past two years.

Latham has been a member of the A-Sun All-Academic Team for three years. She was named to the Athletic Director’s Academic Excellence Team, an honor given to Lipscomb athletes with a 3.5 or better GPA. She also is a member of Alpha Chi.

In cross country she earned the Team “Athlete of the Year” and the Team “Fighting Bison” awards.
