Lipscomb University Bisons' golf coach Buddy Harston has signed Kyle Wittler from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tenn. Wittler was named to the Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of the Preps as both a junior and a senior and finished in the top 15 in the state tourney for three years.

Senior Ryan Chastain broke his 11th Lipscomb University men's track & field record competing in the Music City Distance Carnival at Vanderbilt Saturday niight. Chastain set a new school record in the men's mile. His time of 4:08.89 broke Andy Russell's 41-year-old previous school record of 4:10.54, set in 1969.

Nicole Burgess played both basketball and tennis for the Lipscomb. She has been teaching in the Metro Public School System in Nashville for 23 years, the last three at Hume-Fogg Magnet. She was named the Metropolitan Public Schools 2011 Teacher of the Year in the high school division.

Pitcher Whitney Kiihnl was named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division All-American Team. Kiihnl was named to the third team. It is the first time a Lipscomb player has earned NCAA All-American honors.

Bobby Hamilton, named to the Lipscomb Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002, is considered one of the greatest players to ever play in the Lipscomb baseball program. Named team MVP in 1977, he led the Bisons to the NAIA national championship in 1975, and again in 1978.

Lipscomb's Brittany Duerk earned the Atlantic Sun field award as athlete of the week after recapturing the Lady Bisons' javelin record at the Vanderbilt Invitational. Duerk launched a final throw of 134-3 to recapture her school record.

Frankie Mayo Williams is a member of the Lipscomb Athletics Hall of Fame and is one of the top tennis players to compete as a Lady Bison. She was the team captain and played the No.1 position in both singles and doubles all four years. She graduated from Lipscomb in 1976 with a degree in Home Economics.

The 2008-2009 Lipscomb Lady Bisons and Bisons track and field teams had a lot to celebrate on both a personal and team level. Catherine Beals was selected as the "Athlete of the Year" and Kristin Ratzlaff was named "Freshman of the Year".

Frederick Keys catcher Caleb Joseph occasionally lingers after games, assists the clubhouse attendant, orders some pizza and then crashes at the stadium. Talk about eating and sleeping baseball. "It's been about 30 percent of nights in the clubhouse at Frederick that I have spent the night on the couch," said Joseph, a 23-year-old right-handed hitter.
