Nicole Burgess played both basketball and tennis for the Lipscomb. She has been teaching in the Metro Public School System in Nashville for 23 years, the last three at Hume-Fogg Magnet. She was named the Metropolitan Public Schools 2011 Teacher of the Year in the high school division.

April Ezell played badminton, basketball, and tennis at Lipscomb. She went on to serve as an assistant women's basketball coach for 14 years. Today she teaches in the Kinesiology Department at Lipscomb.

Frankie Mayo Williams is a member of the Lipscomb Athletics Hall of Fame and is one of the top tennis players to compete as a Lady Bison. She was the team captain and played the No.1 position in both singles and doubles all four years. She graduated from Lipscomb in 1976 with a degree in Home Economics.

A crowd of well-wishers and top Lipscomb University officials were present Saturday, April 17, to witness the dedication of and inaugural serve at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center. The 2,200-square-foot tennis center includes a pro shop with a retail store, common area, restrooms and eventually locker rooms.

Belmont and Lipscomb entered the match without an Atlantic Sun win Tuesday. In the end Belmont prevailed 5-2 as the Lady Bisons failed to win a conference match this season.

In an attempt to help the devastated country of Haiti, the Lipscomb tennis teams sponsored a spin-a-thon to raise money to purchase water filters for Haitian families suffering from the earthquake. They brought in $1,600 for their efforts.

After a 4-1 team loss Friday on the first day of the Tennessee-Martin tournament, the Lady Bisons tennis team proved they still had something left, playing a full day of tennis at the "Rock N' Roll" event on Saturday. Winning two of three doubles matches and five of 13 singles matches, the Lady Bisons were led by Mackenzie Bishop and sophomore Elizabeth Keevil.

Freshman Mackenzie Bishop was the bright spot for the Lady Bisons in the UT-Martin Tournament as she won her first college match Friday in Martin, Tenn. The two teams will meet again Saturday afternoon.
