Former Bisons pitcher Josh Smith (2006-2010) has been selected to play in the 2011 Midwest League All-Star Game in Davenport, Iowa on June 21. Smith plays for the Dayton Dragons in the Cincinnati Reds farm system.

The Atlantic Sun announced the 2011 baseball postseason awards on Tuesday and Lipscomb's M.L. Williams earned second-team all-conference honors as an outfielder. Williams hit .354 and led the Bisons with 84 hits. The junior outfielder led Lipscomb with 17 doubles, 24 stolen bases, and 48 runs scored.

Josh Smith made his debut for the Dayton Dragons in the Midwest League Friday night. He threw 2.1 innings in a 2-1 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts. He allowed two hits, walked two and struck out three.

Former Lipscomb pitcher Josh Smith has been promoted to the Dayton Dragons of the Class A Midwest League by the Cincinnati Reds. Smith opened the season with the Billings Mustangs in the rookie Pioneer League.

Lipscomb's Chad Fromm is not only getting some additional pitching experience this summer in the Alaska Baseball League but he is also experiencing a taste of life in the state including dealiing with almost endless sunshine.

Lipscomb coach Jeff Forehand has named Andrew Nickerson as a graduate assistant for the 2010-2011 school year. Nickerson, from Brentwood, Tenn., will work on his Masters of Business Administration degree. He was this year's recipient of the Ken Dugan Award.

Former Lipscomb Bisons pitcher Rex Brothers has been promoted to Class AA by the parent Colorado Rockies. Brothers has joined the Tulsa Drillers of the Texas League after opening the season with the Modesto Nuts in the Class A California League.

Lipscomb Bisons' baseball coach Jeff Forehand has announced that left-handed pitcher Richie Goodenow will transfer from Vanderbilt. Goodenow will enroll in graduate school at Lipscomb for his final year of eligibility.
