The Lipscomb Lady Bisons have never beaten the Campbell Camels in a soccer match.

The Camels enter Saturday night’s game with a 6-0-1 overall record in the series between the two Atlantic Sun teams. Campbell is 5-7-1, 2-3 in the A-Sun this season after beating Belmont 1-0 Friday night.

Game time is at 7 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

“We have to step back and not panic,” Ireland said. “If we can change a couple of things we can play with anyone.

“Campbell is always a very good team. We have to find a way to win. It is going to come down to finishing our changes and cutting down on our mistakes. What is frustrating is when we don’t give ourselves a chance.”

Despite the record Ireland has nothing but praise for his defenders _ Kelsey Reiman, Katie Wood and Kameron Stilwell. He also has praise for midfielder Martika Powe.

“From a defensive standpoint those girls have stepped up a ton,” Ireland said. “Those back three have been incredible. When you add in Martika we have four of the best defensive players in the conference.”

The main struggle for the Lady Bisons is on offense as they continue to search for that one player who will finish plays and score.

“We have played a lot of different people in the midfield and up top,” Ireland said. “We need to find someone who can step up and finish and create something dangerous whether it is beating someone one vs. one or making a dangerous run.

“We have given a lot of different kids playing time to see who is going to step up. At this point that is one question mark as we find someone to step up offensively.”

The Lady Bisons, who have lost five of their last six games, are 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the conference. Game time is at 7 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
