Sunday, October 03, 2010On a gloomy and blustery cold Sunday afternoon the Lipscomb Bisons lost 4-0 to Stetson in an Atlantic Conference game at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
Stetson scored once in the first half and three times in the second.
Jonathan Mendoza was the offensive star for Stetson. He scored the first goal of the game at 12:27 of the first half off of a rebound in the box off of a free kick. He also scored the fourth goal at 88:37 of the second half when he chipped in a cross pass from in front of the box.
Mendoza also assisted on the other two Stetson goals. Ryan Asare-Bediako scored on a header at 66:32 and Caleb Matthews also scored on a head at 83:31.
Lipscomb goalkeeper Brent McGee made four saves. Stetson had 10 shots, including eight shots on goal.
The Bisons managed only two shots on goal, both by Garret Pettis. They had 14 shots overall.
Andreas Schnabl earned the shutout for Stetson. It was the third time this season the Bisons have not scored a goal in a game. It was also the third time this season the Bisons have allowed four goals in a game, a season high.
The Bisons are 4-6-0, 0-2-0 in the conference. Stetson is 5-2-1, 2-0-0 in conference play.
The Bisons play their next three games on the road starting with a visit to Jacksonville to play Jacksonville Oct. 8 and North Florida Oct. 10.
