Following the conclusion of the game Sunday, junior Whitney Kiihnl was named the Most Valuable Pitcher of the Magic City Classic Tournament while Vanessa Medina earned All-Tournament team honors as well.

J.J. Nelson went the distance for the Lady Bisons. She gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits. She walked two and struck out four.

St. Louis scored two runs the second inning and one in the third.

The Lady Bisons scored their lone run in the third. Bridgette Begle led off the inning with a single t o center. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Mackenzie Tucker. Begle scored when Breanna Thurman slammed a double.

The Lady Bisons will make their home debut for the 2011 season this weekend when they host the Lady Bison Classic at Draper Diamond.

Butler, Appalachian State and Eastern Illinois will play in the tournament March 4-6.
