Monday, April 18, 2011Brandon Mundie fired an even-par 71 to lead the Lipscomb golf team in the first round of play at the 2011 Atlantic Sun Championships at the Chateau Course of Chateau Elan.
The Bisons currently sit in a tie for 10th place after carding a 298 in round one.
Kennesaw State holds a five-stroke lead over USC Upstate, North Florida and Campbell in the team race after finishing as the lone school under par.
Mundie, a senior from Brentwood, Tenn., sits in a tie for 12th place individually in the medalist race.
Freshman Dustin Wilder sits in a tie for 31st place with a first-round 74 while Andrew Brock is tied for 39th after a first-round 76.
The sophomore duo of Alex Cox and Blanton Farmer carded rounds of 77 and 78, respectively to round out the Bisons scoring.
USC Upstate’s Matt Hopper holds an early lead in the medalist race after recording a five-under-par 66 in round one. Eleven golfers entered the clubhouse with scores under par.
Second round action of the 2011 A-Sun Championships begins Tuesday morning with the Bisons and Jacksonville teeing off at 8 a.m. ET.
