Numerous midfielders dot the roster for the 2011 Lipscomb men’s soccer team, with a cavalcade of talented upperclassmen being joined by an intriguing freshman group that will push for playing time.
Senior Drew Longinotti returns as a two-year starter in the midfield. As one of six seniors on the 2011 squad, Longinotti will be counted on to provide leadership in the midfield.
Sophomore Joey Chiappetta had a huge first year as a Bison, assisting on seven goals (second-highest single-season mark by a Bison) and adding two goals of his own. The New Berlin, Wis. native will be back and looking to move up the all-time assists list; he’s already tied for fourth in career assists after his freshman season.
Jeremy Reid redshirted last season and has returned to stake a claim to a midfield spot. The junior started 19 matches in 2009 before sitting out last season due to injury.
Junior Deven Bahadoorsingh appeared in 18 matches a year ago and appears ready to claim a starting spot going into 2011.
Juniors Tyler Burkhardt, Thomas Blair, sophomores A.J. Theofanis and Kyle Erickson and senior Evan McGee will also see time in the midfield. Burkhardt and McGee will split time between the midfield and up with the forwards.
Freshmen Edvaldo Pedro, Matt Kerridge, Gates, Max Robinson, Zandar El-Hindi, Evan Beutler and Quintin Walker also join the Bisons as midfielders this fall. Gates (Michigan), Robinson (Kentucky) and El-Hindi (New York) were all-state picks in 2010.
