NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Lipscomb women’s tennis team will open their fall season on Saturday when they head to Middle Tennessee State to compete in the “Middle Tennessee Shootout”in nearby Mufreesboro, Tenn.
Lady Bisons assistant coach Jamie Aid said the tournament will be a good opportunity for the new team to become united.
"We are excited about playing down the road at MTSU,” Aid said. “This year is a new year with two new team members and new expectations. We only ask one thing of our team and that's always to bring the best you are able to bring day in and day out.
“We as a coaching staff are excited to see these girls come together as a team throughout the fall. We look forward to see our returners play and happy to see our freshman in the lineup this weekend.”
The Lady Bisons added two signees during the offseason and Aid said she expects them to play at a high level on their roster.
“Jenny Borck from California will be playing No. 2 for us this weekend and Deahna Welcher from Indiana will be playing No. 3,” Aid said. “Additionally, they will be doubles partners playing the No. 2 spot. We intend to enjoy the weekend getting good competition and most importantly improving.”
The coaching staff expects to see seniors Elizabeth Keevil and Sam Bowman assume leadership roles as they head into their fall season.
The Middle Tennessee Shootout will begin at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and will conclude Sunday evening.
