Wednesday, October 12, 2011 MARTIN, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men’s golf team had yet another strong showing at this week’s UT-Martin Skyhawk Classic in Martin, Tenn., finishing seventh behind an 891 (+27) final score. The Bisons were standing strong in second place after turning in a second-round score of 285 (-3) putting them behind only eventual winner Southern Illinois. The Bisons were looking to make back-to-back runner-up finishes on the season, but the final round proved to be too much for them to hold down the second-place spot. Pacing the Bisons was again this week was junior Blanton Farmer shooting a 219 (+3) on the weekend to finish tied for 12th. Paul-Klein Kracht finished T22 followed by Ryan Terry at T29 with a 224 (+8) to round out the top 30 finishers. Dustin Wilder finished T34 turned in a competitive 226 (+10) with Taylor Combs at a 235 (+16) and Alex Cox at T60 and 236 (+20). Jake Erickson from Southern Illinois topped the individual honors taking first place with a score of 229 (-7) followed by Patrick Newcomb from Murray State with a 211 (-5). The team scoring had SIU in first with a -4, Jackson State in second with a +10, and host UT Martin taking third at +12. Lipscomb wraps up the 2011 fall schedule next week at the “F&M Bank Austin Peay Intercollegiate” in Hopkinsville, Ky., with play beginning on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011.
