Tuesday, November 08, 2011 DELAND, Fla. – Lipscomb’s women’s golf team struggled to an eighth-place finish at the Holiday Inn Express Hatter Classic at Victoria Hills Golf Club, Tuesday. The Lady Bisons carded a team 54-hole score of 987 (325-335-327), finishing behind four Atlantic Sun schools: Stetson (champion of their home tournament for the fifth year in a row), Jacksonville, Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate. Freshman Danielle Grace led the Lady Bisons with a three-round score of 27-over par 243 (78-86-79) to tie for 25th. Sophomores MacKenzy Carter (30-over par 246, 85-79-82) and Savannah Schubert (33-over 249, 84-82-83) were 32nd and 35th, respectively. Freshman Casey Edwards (41-over 257, 86-88-83) finished 42nd, while sophomore Sabrina Ferreri (46-over 262, 78-88-96) rounded out the Lady Bisons competitors with a 45th-place finish. Stetson’s Alex Buelow led the Lady Hatters to their fifth title in a row with a one-under 54-hole score of 215 (72-71-72); she took the individual title over FGCU’s Fabienne Haremza by eight strokes. As a team, Stetson defeated Daytona State College by 27 strokes for the title. This tournament wraps up the fall tournament schedule for Lipscomb. |
