NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team is set to make the short trip to Vanderbilt to participate in the Commodore’s “Thanksgiving Tournament” taking on the host at Memorial Gymnasium at 2 p.m.
In the midst of a five-game stretch in nine days, the Lady Bisons (0-5) take on Vanderbilt (4-0) for the first time since 2007.
Senior guard Anna Bowers continues to lead the Lady Bisons averaging 13.8 points-per-game on the young season. Junior wing Hannah Phillips sits just behind Bowers with an 11.0 scoring average and leads Lipscomb in rebounding averaging 6.6 boards per outing.
Lipscomb leads the Atlantic Sun Conference in field goal percentage (.394) and three-point percentage (.367). The Lady Bisons rank third in the league in three-pointers made each game with a 5.8 average and also rank third in rebounding hauling in 25.4 boards per contest.
The opponent: Vanderbilt enters their own tournament a perfect 4-0 and receiving votes in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches top-25 polls. The Commodores sophomore guard Jasmine Lister is averaging 14.0 points-per-contest and is blistering opponents with a .575 field-goal percentage. She is joined in double figures by Tiffany Clarke (13.5), Stephanie Holzer (12.3) and Christina Foggie (11.5) as part of the VU offense that is averaging 89.7 points a game.
