DELAND, Fla. -- The Lipscomb men’s golf team faced some difficult weather this past weekend in their competition with Stetson. A dual meet on Sunday at Victorial Hills Golf Club in DeLand left the Bison with a 20-stroke loss to the Hatters.
The Bison shot a team score of 314 in their spring season opener falling behind Stetson’s 294 in a par 72 course that covered 7,149 yards.
Despite the weather, junior Blanton Farmer led the Bison with a two-over par, the closest on the team to break par just behind Stetson’s Sam Ryder, who was the only player in the competition to break par with a one-under 71.
The rest of the Bison worked to close the gap. Sophomore Ryan Terry finished seven-over par with a 79. Then not far behind, sophomore Dustin Wilder with an 80, freshmen Paul Kleine-Kracht with an 81, and Taylor Combs, also a freshmen, at 83.
The Bison head to Jackson, Tenn. in a few weeks, on March 11, for tournament play in the UT Martin Grover Page Classic hosted by UT Martin.
