The Bison worked through two rounds of golf yesterday and finished the third and final round today for tournament play in the Grover Page Classic 2012 hosted by UT Martin and played at the Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn.
The Bison finished out the tournament in sixth place with a total score of 909 through three rounds of 72-par play. Between Ryan Terry, Paul Klein-Kracht, Blanton Farmer, Nate Johnson, and Alex Cox, the men’s team improved play each round moving from eighth place in the first round with 310, up to seventh place after round two with 303 and finishing at sixth with a 296.
Terry, a sophomore, led the Bison with a 10th place finish. He stayed in the top 20 the entire tournament with two rounds at 3-over par and his final round at par.
Terry finished the tournament in the top five on par-five holes, shooting six-under par and averaging 4.5 strokes per hole. Blanton Farmer averaged 4.17 shots per par-four hole, shooting five-over on those holes and tying for 10th on those holes among the field.
Tennessee Martin took the overall team title. The individual medalist was Partick Newcomb of Murray State. Picked for the All-Tournament team were Jake Erickson (Southern Illinois), Maurice Jefferies (Jackson State), Tyler Shellnut (UT Martin) and John Sisinni (UT Martin).
Next up for Lipscomb on the links will be a match against Trevecca, March 26.
