OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Shooting a four over par, 572, the Lipscomb men’s golf team took home top honors in the 3rd-Annual Trevecca Nazarene Spring Invitational at Old Hickory Country Club.
The Bison were led by freshman Nate Johnson, who finished tied for third with a three under 139 (69, 70) after an eagle on the par-5 18th hole to finish the tournament.
“I am really proud of this bunch,” said Lipscomb head coach Buddy Harston. “They spent their entire spring break in Florida playing and practicing. It obviously paid off.
“Nate’s maturity on the course is growing as his mistakes don't seem to overwhelm him like they once did. He can be as good as he sets his mind to be.
Dustin Wilder finished in a 7-way tie for 14th with a plus-three 145 (72, 73). Blanton Farmer finished only two shots behind with a 147 and a tie for 21st. Paul Klien-Kracht and Alex Cox both finished with a plus-six 148 one shot ahead of Nathan Mueting and Ryan Terry, who tied for 33rd.
Host school Trevecca Nazarene finished in second place with a 12-over 580 one shot ahead of Cumberland, who finished in third.
The Bison men continue spring action at the Jacksonville University Invitational next week.
