Lipscomb
(10-16) at Evansville (16-9) 3/28/2012 | Evansville, Ind. | Attendance: 183
Wednesday, March 28, 2012 EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Unable to get the bats going at the right times, the Lipscomb baseball team dropped a 5-0 non-conference road decision at Evansville University on Wednesday night at Braun Park in Evansville. The game was a pitching duel for the first six frames as Lipscomb (10-16) starter Chris Nunn (0-2) went toe-to-toe with Evansville (16-9) starter Ryan Billo. Neither team would scratch across a run until the fifth when Nunn gave up a leadoff double to Evansville leadoff man Eric Stamets and the Purple Aces manufactured a run. Evansville added another run in the sixth ending Nunn’s day after five and one-third innings pitched. The junior southpaw allowed two earned runs, three hits and six walks while striking out two to fall to 0-2 on the season. Billo would last until the seventh when senior second baseman Zak Messer and junior shortstop Aaron Sandoval would get a pair of hits to end his night. The sophomore picked up his third win of the season going six and two-thirds innings allowing only three hits and a pair of walks while notching three strikeouts. The Purple Aces went on to add three insurance runs in the eighth behind a pair of costly defensive miscues for Lipscomb. The Bison return home this weekend hosting ETSU for a three-game series beginning on Friday night at 6 p.m followed by a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday and a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults 13 and over and free for those 12 and under. |
