NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In its final tune-up before the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships, Lipscomb men’s and women’s track and field will stay local at this weekend’s Boston Moon Classic, hosted by Tennessee State. The meet runs all day Saturday at TSU’s Edward S. Temple Classic.
A who’s-who of schools from across the Volunteer State will be in Nashville for this event. Lipscomb and TSU will be joined in competition by athletes from Bethel, Belmont, MTSU, Tennessee Tech and Alabama-based Tuskegee.
This will be the final chance for Lipscomb athletes to improve their standing within the A-Sun before the April 20-21 conference meet in Jacksonville, Fla. Currently, Lipscomb has 45 (25 men, 20 women) top-eight spots spread over 29 events and hope to add to those numbers this weekend.
Five Lipscomb records fell at last season’s Boston Moon, highlighted by Anna Bowers’ long jump and 100m records. She also ran a leg of the 4x100m relay that put up a school-record time.
The relays were huge for LU at last weekend’s Auburn Tiger Track Classic. Both the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams broke the school record, with the men’s team moving up to second in the Atlantic Sun.
The LU track and field squads will be in Jacksonville next weekend for the A-Sun Outdoor Championships. The two-day meet begins at 9 a.m. Friday, April 20.
