ATHENS, Ga. -- After a trip to Georgia, the men’s tennis team walked away with added experience.
Coach Andrew Harris believes the tournament, despite the weather, was a decent success.
“I think [the tournament] went pretty well,” Harris said. “I would have liked to have gotten some more reps in and matches in. But unfortunately the weather was not very cooperative.”
On Friday, Stuart Tierney walked away with a win over Citadel’s Peter Bleach in a Division II singles out match. Oliver Strecker, John Troughner, Colby Shaw and David Salazar also participated.
On Saturday, Strecker defeated Mercer’s Arnav Mohanty in a round of Division I singles consolation. Toughner also bested Georgia Southern’s Rafael Racy in Division II singles consolation.
Sunday, both Colby Shaw and David Salazar won their division individual matches in singles consolidation. Streckler also participated in Division I singles consolation.
The team did not compete Monday, the final day of the tournament.
Harris noted Shaw’s performance in the tournament as something that impressed him.
The men’s team will now look ahead for the MTSU Fall Tournament, set to take place Sept. 21-Sept. 23 in Murfreesboro.
