NASHVILLE, Tenn. –The Lipscomb volleyball team extended its Atlantic Sun Conference record to 6-0 as it defeated USC Upstate 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) in Spartanburg, S.C., as six Lady Bisons had double digits in kills and digs.

Sophomore Lauren Ford added 16 kills and senior Kaycee Green, fresh off her second consecutive A-Sun Player of the Week, had 13.
Three different Lady Bisons had double-digit dig performances.
Junior Stephanie Rex led the team with 21 digs, her third match of at least 20 digs this season.
Sophomore Megan Stout was one shy of her career-high with 15 digs. Junior Caitlin Dotson had 12 digs and 42 assists for her seventh double-double of the season.
Stout started off hot with nine digs in the first set and Rex helped finish it up with 11 digs in the last set.
“Megan started out fast,” Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “Rex had a tremendous ending to the first set that led into the second and third sets.”
The Lady Bisons’ defense was outstanding against the Spartans (6-11, 1-4 A-Sun) with 70 digs and five total blocks.
“I like what we are doing as a team,” Rosenthal said. “Defensively, we did some great stuff. That gives us the opportunity to extend matches or extend our lead.”
LU was leading in the first set by one, 11-10. The Lady Bisons stretched their lead by outscoring the Spartans 8-3 and went on to win the first set 25-21.
The second set saw the Lady Bisons with their largest deficit of the match, down by three, 9-6, but LU went on a 10-4 run to capture the lead and win the second set 25-21.
In the third set, the Lady Bisons once again fell behind early, this time by two points, 7-5, but LU went on a 17-7 run on the way to win the third set 25-20 and the match.
“I was glad to get a win on the road,” Rosenthal said. “The girls did a nice job today.”
LU stays unbeaten against the Spartans with a 9-0 record, losing only two sets. The Lady Bisons extended their season-long six-match winning streak and have won their last four road matches.
The Lady Bisons finish their road trip against ETSU on Saturday 2 p.m. in Johnson City, Tenn., before returning home for two matches against Florida Gulf Coast Friday, Oct. 12 and Stetson Saturday, Oct. 13. ETSU is coming off a tough match against Northern Kentucky Friday night and won 3-2.
“They’re a great team,” Rosenthal said of ETSU. “Their record doesn’t reflect the type of team they are. It’s going to be a dog fight.”
