NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Kaycee Green was named Tuesday as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week for volleyball.
Green led the team in kills, and had at least 15 kills in each match, helping the Lady Bisons to a perfect 2-0 record to begin the five-match home stand.
Green had 32 total kills, four blocks, seven digs, a 5.33 kills per set and a hitting percentage of .279.
“I think Kaycee’s been playing some great volleyball,” Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “It’s great to see her accomplishments be recognized and it’s been a lot of fun to watch her grow as a player, especially in her final year.”
The Cookeville, Tenn., native had 17 kills, three digs, two blocks and a hitting percentage of .289 in a 3-0 sweep of ETSU Friday night.
Green had 15 kills, four digs and two blocks and a hitting percentage of .268 in a 3-0 sweep of USC Upstate Saturday afternoon.
Green had nine of her 15 kills in the tough first set against the Spartans, where the Lady Bisons fought back and won the set 25-20.
“I thought that first set spoke volumes to me as a coach and what the girls are trying to do,” Rosenthal said. “If you look at her numbers, it’s pretty remarkable as far as what she took on her shoulders and said ‘Hey let’s get this done.’”
The senior leads the team with 324 kills and 3.79 kills per set, which ranks second in the Atlantic Sun. She leads the A-Sun with 4.32 kills per set in conference play.
This is Green’s first career TSWA Player of the Week. Green has won the A-Sun Player of the Week twice this season on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, the first consecutive player of the week for an A-Sun player since the 2009 season.
