NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Looking to rebound from a season-opening loss in Friday night’s “Battle of the Boulevard” to Belmont, the Lipscomb men’s basketball team hosts Maryville (Mo.) on Monday night at 5 p.m. at Allen Arena.
Monday night’s contest will be the first-ever meeting between the NCAA Division II Saints (2-0), from St. Louis and the Bisons. The Saints were tabbed to finish fifth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s West Division but have started the season off strong with wins over Tiffin and Ohio Dominican and a close 73-64 exhibition loss at Miami (Ohio).
Sophomore guard Armon Provo leads the Saints through two games averaging 15.5 points per contest just ahead of junior guard Asa Toney, a Germantown native, who averages 15 points per game. Like the Bisons, the Saints have only one senior on the roster.
The Bisons head into the contest with Deonte Alexander atop the scoring chart after leading the team with 14 points againt Belmont. Sophomore guard Carter Sanderson finished just behind Alexander in scoring with a career-high 13-point effort against the Bruins.
The game will be carried on 102.1 The Light with Jonathan Seamon, Jay Walton and Jared Revlett on the call. To purchase tickets visit http://BeHerdLU.com or call 615-966-HERD (4373). Following the men’s contest, the Lady Bisons host No. 16 Vanderbilt in a game that featured on ESPN3.
