MACON, Ga. – The fans have voted and Lipscomb redshirt freshman center Stephen Hurt has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Crons “Achiever of the Month” for the month of December.
The Mufreesboro, Tenn. native averaged 13.3 points-per-game and 10.3 rebounds-per game during the month. After notching his first career double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) at Kentucky, Hurt blistered Austin Peay on the road for 23 points and 18 rebounds. That performance led to him being named one of ESPN.com’s “Top Performers of the Night”.
Hurt followed up his performance against the Governors with his third-straight double-double. The big man scored 15 points and added 13 rebounds on the road at Memphis
The inside force for the Bisons claimed a pair of A-Sun “Newcomer of the Week” awards for his play in December and is the current recipient of that honor earning league honors again on Tuesday. Hurt is the first Lipscomb men’s basketball player to pick up the monthly award since its inception last season.
