NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Senior guard Hannah Phillips will look to become the fifth Lady Bison to surpass the 1,000 point barrier as the Lipscomb women’s basketball team hosts Northern Kentucky on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Phillips, with 991 career points, looks to join Anna Bowers, Katie Beth Pate, Jenna Bartsokas and Courtney Boynton in the 1,000-point club after scoring a career-high 24 points at USC Upstate last Monday. She also averaged 21 points for the weekend with 18 points at ETSU.
The Lady Bisons, 2-19 overall and 1-10 in A-Sun play, fell to Northern Kentucky on Jan. 12 after being was shut down by a staunch defensive effort in the second half.
Northern Kentucky enters 9-11 overall and 6-5 in A-Sun action after winning two-straight victories this past weekend, an 81-61 victory at USC Upstate and a come-from-behind 77-76 victory at ETSU.
The Norse are led by Kayla Thacker and Tiara Hopper with identical 10.5 point-per-game average. Hopper snags a team-high 5.7 rebounds per game. NKU also has reigning A-Sun Newcomer of the Week Rianna Gayheart who averaged 13.5 points last week.
In what will be a battle of two of the top freshmen in the Atlantic Sun, Alex Banks leads all rookies with 11.6 points per game in league play. Thacker leads all freshmen at 10.5 points per game overall. Both are also almost even in rebounds as Thacker snags 5.1 rebounds per game to Banks’ 4.8 per game.
