NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After picking up a pair of wins last week including a victory in his first collegiate start, Lipscomb baseball freshman hurler Denton Norman has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week.
Norman took to the hill on Tuesday night for his first career start and blanked Western Kentucky for seven innings as the Bisons combined to shutout the Hilltoppers. The rookie then followed up that performance with a four-inning relief outing on Sunday to pick up a key Atlantic Sun Conference win on the road at then No. 24 Mercer.
The Bears notched one run against Norman as the Katy, Texas native gave up his first run in his last 17 innings of work. On the season, Norman is 2-0 with a 2.21 ERA in 21.0 innings on the mound.
Norman is the first Bison to pick up TSWA pitcher honors for Lipscomb this season.
The Bisons continue A-Sun play this weekend hosting Stetson for a three-game series that gets underway on Friday night at 6 p.m.
