NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team will see a new, but also familiar face this year. Head coach Greg Brown has announced the addition of former player Anna Bowers to his staff as the Director of Basketball Operations.
Bowers, holds numerous 3-point records for the Lady Bisons, will coordinate travel, be the academic liaison, assist in development and help build alumni relations with the squad.
“We are excited to have Anna back in the program,” Brown said. “I think it is key to have somebody who was so successful in the program, someone who has come from a successful program and has so many ties to the community.
“All of those things will translate into being a great asset to the program.”
After graduating from Lipscomb in 2012, Bowers was an assistant coach with the Tennessee State Champion Ensworth Academy girls basketball team. The varsity squad posted a 27-1 mark. Bowers was the head junior varsity coach as well as helping with the track and field teams where she coached sprints and jumps.
During her career with the Lady Bisons, Bowers scored 1,153 career points, second-best in the NCAA era. She set a four-year record of 207 made treys to go along with 83 made long distance shots in a season. In one of her final games in the Purple and Gold, Bowers set a new school mark of eight made 3-pointers in a game, amassing that total against Kennesaw State.
Not only excelling on the court, the Nashville native was a four-time Atlantic Sun All-Academic Honoree.
“Her relationship to the players and her attention to detail are essential to this operations position and is a great start for her in coaching,” Brown said. “Anna’s background can help us further our culture and further hold people accountable. Her academic background and playing career has given her respect on both fronts.”
Bowers began her duties with the Lady Bisons in mid-August.
