KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb’s junior David Salazar ends the fall with a singles consolation victory at ITA regional played at Knoxville, Tenn.
“I felt great today finishing my last fall match as a Bison with a win and as a team we had positive results throughout our fall season,” Salazar said.
Daniel Hernandez has had some great wins this weekend. Hernandez had a win against Wright State and a loss against MemphisSaturday.
“For us to be successful this year we are going to need everyone to be a consistent performer for us,” coach Mario Hernandez said. “Daniel showed this week that he has made improvements in this area which is great to see. I am excited to see the rest of the guys perform and finish the fall season strong.”
John Tougher and Rob Mitchell lost their respective matches in three sets. Both the matches were final set super-tiebreakers.
The doubles matches were played on Friday in which both the doubles teams lost.
“We have had a good fall season and I am very excited for upcoming spring,” Hernandez said. “This whole fall was a great way to show us what we were doing well and what we needed to work on.
“I was happy today for David to win his last ever fall match. He has been a tremendous leader for us, particularly in the way he leads by example each day. I can’t wait for him to have his best spring season to date,” added coach Hernandez.
The Bisons have shown gradual improvements in the results throughout the fall season.
“We have done a great job in preparing and disciplining ourselves this fall and will continue on to do so this coming spring season,” Salazar said. “I am excited about what is to come and what the spring has in store for us. Coach Mario has done a great job.”
