GREENVILLE, N.C. - Playing the first two rounds of the ECU Pirate Intercollegiate, Lipscomb men’s golf ended the Monday in fifth place, 12 shots off the lead.
Sydney Chung led the charge for the Bisons by firing a three-under par 139. Chung carded 74 in round one before torching the field with a six-under par, 65 in the second. His 65 was the lowest round of the entire field and one of only two rounds in the 60s.
Chung paces the field heading into the third and final round on Tuesday.
Mikey Feher ended the day in a tie for 23rd after posting rounds of 76-74 for a total of 150.
Finishing two strokes behind Feher, Dowling Armstrong shot 75-77 on Monday. His 152 total places Armstrong in a tie for 28th.
Dustin Wilder scored a pair of 79s to finish 38th.
After posting an 86 in round one, Paul Klein-Kracht bettered his score by 10 strokes with a 76 in the second. His 162 puts Klein-Kracht in a tie for 47th.
All five Bisons finished inside the top 50.
Presbyterian College leads the field by five strokes after shooting 584. Host East Carolina shot 589 to position itself second.
The third round will begin at 8 a.m. with Lipscomb teeing off in the first grouping.
