NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a brief reminder of what Allen Arena looks like with an 87-79 win over Tennessee Tech on Thursday night, the Lipscomb basketball team returns to road action on Saturday afternoon with a 3 p.m. nonconference tilt at Murray State in Murray, Ky.

The third meeting all-time between the two schools is set to air live on 94.9 Game 2 with Jonathan Seamon behind the mic for the Purple and Gold.

  • Junior forward Martin Smith led all scorers in Thursday night’s win over Tech with 24 points but Josh Williams carried the Bisons down the stretch scoring five of his 20 points in the final 1:08 of action. Redshirt freshman point guard J.C. Hampton added 19 for the Purple and Gold
  • Thursday night’s home contest was the lone game at Allen Arena in 10 contests. Lipscomb returns home again on Jan. 4. to open home conference action against North Florida after trips to Murray State, Austin Peay, Georgia, Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast.
  • After a season-high 27 points against UT-Martin and 16 and 24 against Georgetown and Tennessee Tech, respectively, Martin Smith has taken over the scoring lead for the Bisons averaging 16.3 points per night for Lipscomb.  That figure ranks him second in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
  • Hampton leads all Atlantic Sun Conference freshmen with a 13.3 points per game scoring average.  Hampton ranks 23rd nationally in freshman guard scoring.
