MACON, Ga. – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team continues to rack up postseason accolades after Danay Fothergill received Academic All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
In addition to leading the Lady Bisons with her performance on the court, Fothergill has also been a leader in the classroom. The Somerset, Ky., native carried a 3.64 GPA while majoring in Interdisciplinary Teaching.
The redshirt-sophomore guard finished the regular season as the A-Sun’s top scorer, producing 18.2 points per game. Fothergill was the second-leading rebounder for the Lady Bisons, pulling down 4.1 boards per contest.
As the floor general for Lipscomb, Fothergill finished as the team’s second-leading assister, dishing 2.3 each time out.
Draining 2.1 treys per game, Fothergill is the league’s second best deep threat.
She was also second in the A-Sun going 134-of-178 from the charity stripe converting on 75.3 percent of her attempts.
Fothergill was named A-Sun Player of the Week on Jan. 20 after back-to-back 30-plus point performances against Mercer and Jacksonville.
Against the Bears, she scored a career-high 34. She then followed that up with 32 against the Dolphins.
Fothergill led the league with three 30-plus point games this year and was third with seven 20-plus point games.
