The Purple and Gold Challenge softball tournament has made several changes as the result of weather conditions. The tournament, sponsored by Courtyard by Marriott-Brentwood and hosted by the Lipscomb Lady Bisons, has lost two teams – Drake and Central Michigan. Western Kentucky will fill one of those spots.

The softball version of the "Battle of the Boulevard" has taken a detour due to weather conditions. Wednesday's game between Lipscomb and Belmont at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium has been canceled and will be played in April.

The Lipscomb softball team closed out the Easton Bama Bash tournament with a 6-1 loss to host No. 3 Alabama Sunday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium. Senior Brianne Welch was named to the all-tournament team after batting a team-leading .333 and a .400 on-base percentage in the tournament.

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons had bases loaded with one out in the sixth inning when lightning and incoming severe weather prompted an immediate end to their game with James Madison, the 3-0 winner.

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons softball team lost 13-1 to Michigan Saturday in the second day of the Bama Bash at Rhoads Stadium. Brianne Welch had two hits for the Lady Bisons with a pair of singles, one in the third and one in the fifth.

The fifth-ranked Michigan Wolverines were too tough to tame for the Lady Bisons on Friday afternoon on day one of the Bama Bash as the Purple and Gold fell 7-1.

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons softball team returns to the state of Alabama for its second weekend in a row to play in the Easton Bama Bash hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa at Rhoads Stadium. All four teams in the tournament finished the 2014 season in the top 35 in the RPI ratings.

Lipscomb's Kelly Young was named Atlantic Sun Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance over the weekend, announced by the league office on Monday. She recorded 17 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched for the weekend and finished with a 1-1 record.

The Lipscomb softball team came out swinging and connecting against Butler, but it could not sustain the momentum in an 11-6 loss in its final game of the Mardi Gras Invitational Sunday morning. The Lady Bisons finished the tournament 2-3 and are 5-4 for the season.

The Lipscomb softball team split its games in the opening day of the Mardi Gras Invitational. Friday afternoon the Lady Bisons rallied in the seventh for a 2-1 win over Butler. They closed out the day at Jaguar Stadium by jumping out to a 5-0 lead over Oklahoma State before falling 9-5.

The Lipscomb softball team sustained its first loss of the season losing 14-2 Sunday afternoon to Ball State in the finale of the Music City Classic at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium. Ball State jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and the Lady Bisons could never recover.

On Saturday in the Music City Classic, the Lady Bisons scored 17 runs on 20 hits and most importantly collected two wins to improve to 3-0. Outfielder Brianne Welch launched her second home run in as many days to start her senior campaign off with a bang.

Kelly Young fired a no-hitter in her Lipscomb softball debut stopping IUPUI 8-0 Saturday afternoon in the Music City Classic at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium. It was also the 300th career win for Lipscomb coach Kristin Ryman.

For the Lady Bisons 2015 is all about the acronym “INAM” which stands for “It’s Not About Me”. Fans will notice the letters on some of the Lady Bisons equipment this season.

The Lipscomb softball team released its competitive 2015 schedule, which includes matches with several top 50 and top 100 teams. The Lady Bisons will play 17 teams that finished in the RPI top 100 of the NCAA Division I RPI last season and 10 in the top 50.

Lauren Wilson was an all-conference center fielder for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons softball team. She earned her share of honors on the field and in the classroom during her time at Lipscomb. She also met her husband, Tyler, who was a member of the Lipscomb baseball team.

The Lipscomb softball team has canceled all events for the weekend due to weather in the Nashville area. Saturday's game with Tennessee State was originally set for 3 p.m. and it will not be made up. Lipscomb has also canceled its annual alumni game that was set for Sunday at 2 p.m.
