Lipscomb University softball coach Kristin Peck has announced the signing of first baseman Ashley Lawrence from Ooltewah, Tenn.
Lawrence helped direct the Baylor School to softball state championships in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
In 2006 she was named an All-City performer and also served as captain of the softball team. In 2006 she batted .381 with five home runs and 33 runs batted in. In 2006 she batted over .500 in the state tournament.
Lawrence, 5-foot-11, is a versatile and talented athlete. She also was named captain of her basketball and volleyball teams in 2006. She lettered four years in both sports. She won the basketball coaches' award in 2006. In 2005 she won the "most improved" award. And in 2004 she was named the "best offensive" player. In volleyball she was named the "most improved" player in 2004 and 2006.
Her sister, Anne, plays softball at Birmingham Southern.
Her parents are Donna and Ed Lawrence.
