Nashville, TN - The Lady Bisons swept defending OVC Champion Tennessee Tech Tuesday at Tech Softball Field in Cookeville, Tennessee.
The Lady Bisons won the first game 4-3 in extra innings.
Tennessee Tech would add two runs in the bottom half of the inning to knot the game 2-2, and both teams would add one more run in the eighth inning.
Sirus went 2 for 4 to lead the Lady Bisons at the plate. Five other Lady Bisons added one hit each
Sophomore Alaina Jacobson earned the game one win pitching three innings of relief.
In the second game the Lady Bisons got on the board early, with Abby Keese hitting a double to left field and scoring on the same play on an error by the Golden Eagle left fielder.
Tennessee Tech would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with left fielder Kaleigh Gates reaching on a walk and scoring on a double by the shortstop Beth Boden.
The Lady Bisons took the lead when Kellie Sirus slammed a solo shot over the left field fence to lead off the fifth inning. That was all the Lady Bisons needed to secure the victory.
Senior Kim Jacobson took the game two win for the Lady Bisons pitching all seven innings, striking out five batters. She is 5-3 on the season.
"We got a whole lot better as a team today," says head coach Kristin Peck. "It feels really good to walk away with two good wins on the road against a really good team andknow that we did a lot of little things well today."
The Lady Bisons advance to 20-21 overall, and 9-5 in A-Sun and hit the road this weekend to take on conference foes Kennesaw State on Friday at 1 p.m. and Mercer on Saturday at 12 p.m.
