Lipscomb freshman outside hitter Cara Wilber was named o the Atlantic Sun Volleyball All-Tournament team.
In two matches (seven games) Wilber combined for 37 kills and 30 digs and .306 hitting percentage. She posted 26 kills and 19 digs in a 3-1 match win over Mercer. In the semifinals, a 3-0 loss to Florida Atlantic, Wilber had 11 digs and 11 kills. The tournament was played Nov. 18-19 at Belmont University's Curb Center.
Wilber, from Georgetown, Calif., transferred from West Virginia University after sitting out the 2004 season as a red shirt.
"Cara kind of found us," said Lipscomb Coach Brandon Rosenthal. "She wasn't real happy at West Virginia. She could have left disenchanted and just given up volleyball, but she didn't."
Rosenthal saw Wilber only on videotape. Wilber found out about the school after meeting some students during the summer.
"Cara knew what she was looking for," said Rosenthal. "It was a leap of faith for her to come here. And on such short notice it was a leap of faith on our part. We did as much research as possible, but due to the time frame we couldn't do much. We signed her in July so there was less than a month before the team reported. The upside of Cara is huge."
