The Atlantic Sun Conference will air all five matches of the 2006 Volleyball Championship, live on the Internet. The matches will all be played at the Belmont University Curb Event Center and the content will be available at no charge through the A-Sun website (www.atlanticsun.org).
Regular season champion East Tennessee State is the No. 1 seed in the six-team event that features opening round and semifinal matches on Friday, November 17, and the championship match on Saturday at 1 p.m.
"We are excited about bringing the volleyball championship to our fans," said Commissioner Bill Bibb. "Video streaming is growing across the NCAA, and we are very proud to present our content in a very high quality production format. We want the fans to be able to feel like they are in the arena, and we believe the shows will provide an excellent viewing experience for everyone who tunes in."
The matches begin Friday with No. 4 Jacksonville vs. No. 5 Gardner-Webb in an opening round match at 11 a.m. The second opening round match-up features No. 3 Lipscomb vs. No. 6 Mercer at 1:30 p.m.
The winners advance to the semifinals, also set for Friday. The No. 1 seed ETSU plays the 4/5 winner at 4:30 p.m. CT, and host Belmont, the No. 2 seed, will face the 3/6 winner at 7:00 p.m. CT. The championship match begins Saturday at 1:00 p.m. CT. All matches will be transmitted live and also available on demand once concluded.
The online video streams will utilize the production and technical capabilities of Turner Broadcasting, which already provides streaming video platforms for many properties, including CNN.com, NASCAR.com, PGA.com, ACCSelect.com and PGATour.com (beginning with its re-launch in 2007).
To view the internet broadcasts, fans will need to have a broadband connection to the internet. Links from the A-Sun website will open the on-screen viewer. On most systems, fans may click on the screen to expand to a full-screen view. For best clarity, full-screen viewing should be from a slightly more distant position than normal workstation positioning.
