On the heels of the 2010 Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth, the Lipscomb Lady Bisons Volleyball team has earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award honors for the 2010-11 season.
“The AVCA academic award is a great award and a great recognition for the girls’ hard work,” noted Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal. “It’s even more special in the year that you win that they’re succeeding on the court and off the court in the classroom.”
The Lady Bisons are one of 92 NCAA Division I teams to earn the honor by boasting a team grade-point-average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale. This marks the second-straight year that Lipscomb has earned the national honor for work in the classroom.
“I couldn’t be prouder,” boasted Rosenthal. “The girls worked really hard and we’ve got to stick to that philosophy of do your best.”
Lipscomb opens the 2011 season in Houston, Texas on August 26th taking on Xavier and Houston.
