NASHVILLE, Tenn.- After a 1-2 showing in the Lipscomb Invitational last weekend against stiff competition, the Lipscomb volleyball looks to get back on track against in-state foe Austin Peay on Tuesday night at 6:30 at Allen Arena.
The Lady Bisons (1-5) are on an eight-match winning streak against the Lady Govs (2-7) and are 8-2 against Austin Peay since the 2002 season.
"1-5 is not where we want to be," Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal said. "The hard part is to understand to continue to grow and learn from our mistakes. Austin Peay has a new coach in Taylor Mott, who was very successful in Division II. I'm excited because anytime you lose, you have a sense to get back out there."
Sophomore Jewell Dobson earned All-Tournament team honors in the Lipscomb Invitational with 38 kills, including a career-high 16 kills against Houston. She also added 15 kills against Appalachian State. On the season, Dobson ranks third on the team with 61 kills.
Senior Kaycee Green was honored before the Houston game on Saturday for the 1,000th kill of her career accomplished during the Appalachian State game a day earlier. Green added 13 kills against the Cougars, giving her a career total of 1,038. That places her in third all-time, one kill behind Alex Scruggs for second place in Lipscomb volleyball history. She currently leads the team with 67 kills on the season.
After notching a career high against Kentucky in the opening weekend in the Kentucky Classic, junior Caitlin Dotson set a new career best with 46 assists against Houston. The Louisville, Ky. native leads the team with 217 assists and is averaging 10.33 assists per set.
The Lady Bisons head west this weekend to play in the Arizona Invitational. Lipscomb opens play with a doubleheader on Friday against TCU at 2:30 p.m. followed by a match with Iona at 6:30 p.m. LU finishes the tournament on Saturday against host Arizona at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
