TUCSON, Ariz. –The Lipscomb volleyball team dropped a tough 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-23) match to Arizona in the final game of the Arizona Invitational at the McKale Memorial Center on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Kaycee Green and sophomore Lauren Ford were named to the All-Tournament team. Green led the team against the Wildcats with 11 kills, her seventh-straight match with at least 10 kills.
Ford led the team in kills in the first two matches of the tournament with a career-high 19 kills in each match. She added eight more kills against the Wildcats. Green had 36 kills during the tournament, while Ford had 46 kills and 16 digs.
The Lady Bisons and the Wildcats were tied at nine in the first set, but then the Wildcats scored the next four points and went on to win the set 25-14.
In the second set, the Lady Bisons were down as much as seven early, but battled back to bring it within two, 17-15, but the Wildcats pulled out a bigger lead and won the set 25-17.
The third set was the toughest one for the Lady Bisons as they had a 10-point lead, 15-5, but the Wildcats outscored LU 14-6 and won the set 25-23 and the match.
Junior Caitlin Dotson is closing in on her 1,000th career assist. She added 29 assists against the Wildcats and has 910 career assists.
Arizona raised its record to 5-3.
The Lady Bisons (3-7) will be on the road for their last match before the conference schedule against Western Kentucky on Tuesday, Sept. 11th at 7 p.m.
