MACON, Ga. – Kaycee Green was named the Atlantic Sun Conference volleyball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Green had a three-match total of 50 kills, including a season-high 21 kills in the 3-2 comeback against North Florida on Saturday. The Cookeville, Tenn., native had a .325 hitting percentage, including a .400 hitting percentage against Jacksonville on Friday.
“I’m proud of her,” Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “I thought Kaycee had a phenomenal week, hitting 50 kills on the week and hitting over .300."
Green also totaled 11 blocks, three blocks solo and eight block assists and added eight digs and two assists. She had at least 12 kills in each of the three matches.
The senior accumulated 57.0 points in the three matches and had a 3.85 kills per set to help lead Lipscomb to a perfect 3-0 record, the only A-Sun team to win three matches last week.
“Kaycee’s our only senior and something that we’ve been working through since the start of last spring is her leadership style,” Rosenthal said. “I thought she had a great week bringing that presence to the table.”
This is Green’s first career A-Sun Player of the Week honor. LU is the first A-Sun team to have multiple volleyball Players of the Week this season. Sophomore Lauren Ford won the award Sept. 10th.
