The Lipscomb Lady Bisons (2-6, 0-0 A-Sun) begin Atlantic Sun Conference play Thursday evening against Mercer (2-2, 0-0 A-Sun). Game time is 4 p.m. CST in the University Center.
Lipscomb enters on a two game skid. The Lady Bisons lost 73-65 Monday evening at Tennessee Tech. Jenna Bartsokas had a team high 14 points while freshman Chelsea McMeans led Lipscomb with seven rebounds off the bench.
Mercer opens its home schedule against Lipscomb. Mercer is on a two game winning streak after defeating Charleston and Furman on the road. Courtney Ford had a double-double with 26 points and 17 rebounds against Furman.
Mercer is one of only two schools the Lady Bisons have a winning record against. Lipscomb is 8-5 against Mercer and 7-5 against Campbell. Mercer won both matchups last year defeating Lipscomb 64-48 in Allen Arena on Jan. 24 and 68-56 in Macon on Feb. 19
Last Time Out
Tennessee Tech outscored Lipscomb 17-4 over the last six minutes of the game in a 73-65 come-from-behind win over the Lady Bisons Monday evening at the Eblen Center.
Tennessee Tech outrebounded the Lady Bisons 49-31 including a 21-7 advantage on the offensive glass.
Scoring throughout the game mainly came in streaks. Tennessee Tech build a 21-11 lead with 11:23 left in the first half.
Lipscomb responded with a 13-3 run to tie the game at 24 at the 7:21 mark.
Tech went on a five point run followed by a seven point run by the Lady Bisons. Tech closed the first half on a 4-0 run to take a 36-34 lead at the half.
Finding themselves down seven points with 18:22 left, Jenna Bartsokas hit a jumper and a 3-pointer and Leah McAlister drained a three to put Lipscomb up 43-42.
Lipscomb extended its lead to five points with 12:33 left finishing a 16-4 run over a span of 5:49.
The Lady Bisons held a lead of either three or five points until Tacarra Hayes hit a 3-point to tie the game at 61 with 5:01 left.
Lipscomb shot 2-of-12 from the field in the final five minutes. Tech held a 12-5 advantage on the boards in the same stretch.
Jenna Bartsokas led Lipscomb with 14 points and Leah McAlister has 12 points.
Lipscomb’s freshman class of Hannah Phillips, Morgan Faulkner, Chelsea McMeans, and Kaitie Fritts all played well against Tech.
Tacarra Hayes had a team high 16 points. Simone Rutledge had career highs with 14 points and 14 rebounds, 11 offensive. Rutledge entered the game averaging 2.2 points and 3.4 rebounds.
