Lipscomb on the Air

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons (4-13, 2-5 A-Sun) look to end their 13 game road losing streak as they face North Florida (4-12, 1-6 A-Sun) Saturday afternoon. The game is set to tip at 3:30 p.m. CT in UNF Arena.
Lipscomb hit a cool 30.6 percent of its shots and turned the ball over 26 times Thursday evening in a 66-48 loss to Jacksonville. Hannah Phillips provided the only offensive spark scoring 13. Kaitie Fritts had career highs with six points and a team-leading five rebounds.
North Florida lost 55-51 at home Thursday to Belmont. Brittany Kirkland had 19 points and Arlande Cherizol tallied 11 points. Juliemay Syquio grabbed 10 rebounds. Belmont scored 14 points off UNF’s 18 turnovers. UNF did not score off Belmont’s nine turnovers.
UNF has won six of the seven meetings between the teams. Lipscomb’s only win came on Feb. 28 last year in Allen Arena as the Lady Bisons won 56-54 behind 18 points and 11 rebounds by Jilian Partin. Cree Nix had 15 rebounds and Jenna Bartsokas had 16 points. Lipscomb lost 52-51 at North Florida last year on a buzzer-beater by UNF’s Jennifer Bowen.
Last Time Out
A poor first half shooting performance by the Lipscomb Lady Bisons compounded by a strong transition offense by Jacksonville allowed Jacksonville to take a 12-point halftime lead on their way to a 66-48 victory Thursday evening.
Lipscomb connected on just five of their 23 first half field goal attempts. Lipscomb shot 30.6 percent on the evening.
Freshman wing Hannah Philips provided the only offensive spark for the Lady Bisons finishing with 13 points on five-of-ten shooting. She also had four rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 26 minutes of action.
Freshman post Kaitie Fritts delivered her strongest performance as a Lady Bison with career-highs of six points and five rebounds.
Lipscomb committed 26 turnovers which Jacksonville turned into 29 points. Jacksonville had 16 fastbreak points. While the Dolphins turned the ball over 23 times, Lipscomb was only able to capitalize 14 points off them. Lipscomb had just four fastbreak points.
Jacksonville went on a 7-0 run to take a 30-18 lead into the half as Lipscomb committed three turnovers and missed two field goals.
With the Lady Bisons down 16 in the second half, Phillips drained a trey, Jenna Bartsokas had a steal which she converted into a fastbreak layup, and Kaitie Fritts hit two free thows to bring the game back to single digits, 36-27, with 15:48 left.
Jacksonville worked its lead back into the low double digits before Taneskei Richardson and Courtney Jackson hit 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to give the Dolphins a 57-37 lead with 8:49 remaining.
