NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Wrapping up the 2011-12 home slate last weekend against USC Upstate, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team makes their final road swing of the season beginning on Thursday night against Mercer at 3 p.m. in an Atlantic Sun Conference tilt at the University Center in Macon, Ga.

The Lady Bison (5-22, 3-13 A-Sun) and Bears (4-23, 2-14) met in December to open A-Sun play with Lipscomb taking an 80-70 win over Mercer at Allen Arena. Lipscomb used a school record 34 free throws to get the victory.

Senior guard Anna Bowers continues to pace Lipscomb averaging 12.4 points per game overall and 13.2 points per night in conference play. The veteran heads into the contest needing only one three pointer to claim the all-time mark for the Lady Bison of 198.

Junior wing Hannah Phillips leads Lipscomb in rebounding with 5.2 boards per game and also leads the squad with 67 assists and 44 steals.

The opponent:  The Bears enter Thursday’s contest having lost 15 of their last 16 having picked up a win earlier this month against USC Upstate when leading scorer Briana Williams blistered the Spartans for 54 points.

Williams not only leads the Bears in scoring averaging 17.3 points per night overall and 18.1 points per game in conference play, but she also leads the A-Sun in both categories.

Up next:  The Lady Bison wrap up the 2011-12 campaign on Saturday at Kennesaw State.
