MACON, Ga. – Twenty-five turnovers proved to be costly for the Lipscomb women’s basketball team Monday night as they fell 53-31 to Mercer University in Macon, Ga.
Lipscomb, coming off a win at Kennesaw State on Saturday, got a slow start out of the gates as they fell behind 14-0 before a 3-point basket from freshman Alex Banks put the Lady Bisons on the scoreboard with 11:21 remaining in the first half.
The Lady Bisons (3-24, 2-14 A-Sun) held the Bears (19-8, 13-3 A-Sun) scoreless for 7:33 but were unable to chip away at the lead as Mercer built a 25-10 lead going into intermission.
The second half didn’t fare much better for Lipscomb as Mercer pulled away using 18 points off turnovers and 14 second-chance points.
Sophomore Sasha Robinson led the Lady Bisons with eight points. Precious Bridges had a game-high 18 points for the Bears.
The Lady Bisons return home on Thursday, for a 5 p.m. start against Jacksonville.
