NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Still within grasp of earning a spot into the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team will look to utilize its home court against Jacksonville on Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.

The Lady Bisons, needing one more win and some help with a Kennesaw State loss, sit one game out of the playoff picture. If Lipscomb can gain a victory, they hold the tiebreaker over KSU for the eighth and final spot in the tournament.

The Lady Bisons had a tough game against the second-ranked team in the A-Sun, Mercer, on Monday. Twenty-five turnovers proved costly in a 53-31 loss to the Bears.

Senior Hannah Phillips, playing in her final home stand of her career, leads the Purple and Gold with 12.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Phillips ranks fifth in the A-Sun with 13.6 points per game during league play and ranks third making 81 percent for her free throws.

The Jacksonville Dolphins, 10-17 overall and 6-10 in league play, beat USC Upstate 73-54 on Monday night behind 25 points from freshman Queen Alford. Alford leads JU with an 11.4 point-per-game average, including 6.1 rebounds. Tracie Sneed and Jade Cargill also score in double-digits at 11.3 and 10.1 points per game, respectively.

The game will also have a battle pitting two freshman of the year candidates in Alex Banks and Alford. Banks averages 11 points and 5.4 rebounds in 33 minutes per game in conference play. Banks is the only Lady Bison to start and play in every game this season.
