NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With nine new faces on the Lipscomb women’s basketball roster, fans will get a chance to see the 2013-14 squad in action for the first time Monday in exhibition play against Freed-Hardeman. Game time is 6 p.m. in Allen Arena.

The two squads met a year ago in exhibition play with the Lady Bisons prevailing 55-49.

Lipscomb returns six players from that squad with Alex Banks being the top statistical returner. She averaged 8.4 points per game and led the squad with 4.9 rebounds per game. She was the only LU player to start all 29 games.

Head coach Greg Brown begins his second season at the helm of the Lady Bisons with nine newcomers including sophomores Ashley Southern and Danay Fothergill who transferred in last season. Sara Bliss, who was an Honorable Mention All-American for Volunteer State Community College, transfers in with junior status.

The freshmen include Maya Dillard, Kelsey Gregory, Elise Spann, Faith LeGate, Brooklyn Apple and Chandler Cooper.

Freed-Hardeman finished last season ranked No. 3 in the NAIA National Poll and spent five weeks ranked in the top spot with a 34-2 record.

Following Monday’s contest, Lipscomb hosts Fisk Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. in its final exhibition game before tipping off the regular season against Morehead State on Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. Both contests are in Allen Arena.
